NPL wrap for Week 25

For predictor, it was seven correct results including four exact score. The two positions at the top of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) did not change while the Jos clubs handed themselves lifelines of escaping the drop with superb results.

Dolphins 3 – 0 Niger Tornadoes
League leaders, Dolphins romped to a three-nil triumph against Niger Tornadoes. Inside 25 minutes of the game, it looked all over with Victor Michael and Ghanaian midfielder Owusu Addae putting the home side ahead. Former Under23 defender, Kennedy Chinwo completed the rout with a 73rd minute penalty after Derrick Amadi was felled in the box to ensure that they remain top
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Kano Pillars 1 – 0 Crown FC
It was expected that Pillars will run over Crown but the newcomers showed a lot of resistance in this tie but fell to Gambo Mohammed’s (pictured) strike on 76 minutes. Crown have now dropped to the bottom of the log with 21 points from 25 games while are third with 43 points – 10 points behind leaders, Dolphins.
Our prediction: 3 – 0

Bukola Babes 2 – 2 Plateau United
Plateau United missed the chance of leaving Ilorin with all points when they conceded a late penalty in this game. Bitrus Bewarang’s side took the lead through Emmanuel Odafe before Bashir Abdulrahman levelled for the Babes. But Stanley Dimgba got Plateau’s second just before the break to hand the side a 2 – 1 lead. It was Abdulrahman’s calmly taken spot kick that saved Festus Allen’s side from a third home defeat. Bukola Babes remain out of the top half of the table while Plateau United are seven points away from safety.
Our prediction: 2 – 1

3SC 1 – 0 Enyimba
Titleholders suffered only their second defeat to 3SC in the topflight since 2004 in a game of tempers. Controversial Under23 attacking winger, Gbolahan Salami, was hacked in the penalty area and youngster Chima Akas stepped up to drill home what turned out to be the only goal of the match just inside the hour mark. In spite of the win, 3SC are 13th on the log while Enyimba are sixth and 15 points behind the leaders.
Our prediction: 1 – 1

Juth 1 – 0 Kaduna United
It was Kaduna United versus goalkeeper Nura Mohammed and not Kaduna United versus Juth. Maurice Cooreman’s men played with lots of mobility and flair in this tie but Juth’s keeper stood in their way. And the away team paid dearly for their profligacy in front of goal when James Amankwei netted the winner for the home on the death. Juth climb to 19th from 20th position while Kaduna United drop to 10th.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Sunshine Stars 2 – 0 Sharks
Ukeyima Akombo and Ibrahim Ajani got the goals for Sunshine Stars. It was Ajani’s 11th goal of the campaign which puts him atop of the scorers’ chart. The goal was also his first since March 13. Sunshine Stars maintained their chase on Dolphins at the top, as Sharks slipped to fifth place with 41 points.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Heartland 2 – 1 Kwara United
Former Under20 striker, Stanley Ohawuchi, was the hero, as netted twice for Heartland on 28 and 62 minutes before Kwara United left-back, Solomon Yahaya, reduced the Heartland’s lead on 90 minutes. But the Naze Millionaires still remain outside the top half while Kwara United are seventh with 38 points.
Our prediction: 1 – 0

Lobi Stars 1 – 0 Warri Wolves
Warri Wolves drop from third to fourth after losing to a second half goal through Moses Bunde in this game in Bauchi. The win meant Lobi Stars find their way into the ninth position with 37 points from 25 games.
Our prediction: 1 – 1

Ocean Boys 2 – 0 Gombe United
Kingsley Nwankwo got his third goal in five games since completing a mid-season move from Enugu Rangers to Ocean Boys. And left-back, Onoriode Imeke secured the game for the home side with a quarter of an hour to full time. The result puts Ocean Boys 10 points adrift the drop zone and two ahead of Gombe United, who have 31 points.
Our prediction: 2 – 0

Zamfara United 1 – 0 Enugu Rangers
This game was held up for over 30 minutes due to shortage of security personnel at the venue and intimidation on match officials by the home fans. But Rangers still suffered a loss on the road. Murtala Salisu scored the winner for Zamfara United, who are still in relegation while Rangers are eighth with 37 points.
Our prediction: 1 – 0
