Bayelsa Utd edge past Remo Stars

By Legheri Onyamom

Bayelsa United qualified for the Federation Cup round of 32 with a 1-0 victory over Remo Stars at the Rojenny Stadium on Wednesday.

Former Nigeria youth international defender Samuel Chukwudi converted a penalty midway into the second half to seal the outcome.

Bayelsa United wing-back Mutiu Adegoke told supersport.com that his side deserved the victory.

"It was a good game and we deserved to win," he said.

"This is our first game since the mid-season break and it was like a training match for us.

"We missed a lot of chances, but we're just happy we were able to beat them.

"This is the Federation Cup were anything can happen. We had to be careful to avoid any shock."

The Yenagoa side crashed out on penalties to ABS in the round of 32 in 2013.
